Light Blizzard

We received a blizzard Friday. Unlike a steady snowfall with even snow on the ground, the strong winds of a blizzard cause drifts. In some areas there was hardly any snow and in others, it would have been up to my chest. Seth went to have fun with friends by pulling them behind his pickup on a sled. He said that some of the drifts on the edge of town would have covered his pickup. I would love to drive around and see some of the larger drifts, but we are stuck in our house. Our drift in the driveway prohibits us from leaving. We did not lose power and are warm and cozy in our home.

Bug's Blessing

I pray that you will receive God's promise to you. He has great things in store for you! Many times in my life, I found strength in knowing that no matter how impure my life was or how out of God's will I was, God offered me a fresh start! It's never too late to become one with our Creator. Look what He promises us if we do! You are destined to please Him and bring many others to know Him! I can't wait to see His promises manifested in you. (I did two so close because I fell lax this week.)

“Let’s Go For A Walk”

I have decided that the weather likes to tease us. I spent the first month of my life in TX in a basement every time a strong wind came through. I was convinced a tornado was coming. I lost many nights of sleep listening to the wind blow wondering if my house was going to collapse under its intense pressure. I was also amazed at how quickly the weather changes here. I have learned that when a day presents itself to us without its great friend, the wind, to take advantage of it. Not too long ago, we enjoyed quite the streak of nice days.

My husband made it home after a long day of work. I met him at the door with our son and a big smile on my face. “Let’s go for a walk!” I suggested enthusiastically. He agreed. I intended on our walk lasting no longer than 30 minutes. As we hit the streets of Vega, I soaked in the safety of this town. I observed a well mannered boy walking alone to church. He walked along with us until he reached his destination. Next, we visited a family working in the yard. The dog was running free, playing with a neighbor dog. Children were playing, nurtured by the love of their grandparents. We took time to enjoy each others company. Soon, a SUV coming slowed to take a good look at our son. Then, we visited a house that was being constructed and delighted in receiving a tour. We arrived home 2 hours later.

During the course of our outing, I thanked God for placing me in such a wonderful town. Our streets are full of life. They are a safe place for our children to play. They are a link to each others lives. They are filled with those of us who often decide to go for a walk.

Crinkle Nose

I noticed day before yesterday that Charlie has started crinkling his nose! He was really showing off for breakfast this morning and I took advantage of it. He's so much FUN!

Bug's Blessing

Here is the secret to a happy life: Know God! How great the world would be if all lived this verse. Untouched by trouble here refers to life after death. We will face troubles during our time on this earth, but Praise God, our troubles are only temporary! I pray faithfully that you will seek God and strengthen your relationship with Him.

He's Sitting Up!

Charlie is becoming more and more independent with sitting up! He is able to sit all by himself with only in case of emergency supervision! He is so proud of himself! He still likes to lean forward and have his mouth meet his toes. We love you Charlie!

“Ditto”

We (meaning I) decided to spruce up our house by painting the kitchen, dining room and living room recently. As we were getting started, my husband looks at me and says, “You know that we are going to be at each other’s throats by the end of this.” Allow me to brief you on our personalities. Seth-very much mellow, go with the flow, not much bothers him type of man. Katy-has to have order, must finish something once she starts, impatient type of woman. Knowing this, I listened to my husband’s words, but did not pay them much attention, as I was focused on the task at hand. My husband actively participated, having grown wise to my personality.

I felt defeated. The paint wasn’t the color I thought it was going to be. We weren’t covering as much area as I thought we would. We weren’t even going to finish in one day. I looked around and was trying to make the best of the situation I presented myself with. About the time that my circuits were overloading, my husband just HAD to ask another question! “You exhaust me!” I said to him in a not so loving tone. “Ditto!” He replied in the same manor.

Time stood still. We were faced off, ready to take our ten steps and DRAW! One could almost here the famous shootout melody playing in the background of an old western. Not a word was spoken as we glared at each other, wondering who would make the next move. I drew my breath and threw my arms around my husband’s neck. Instead of choking him, I burst out into laughter and we swung around, encircled in one another. “I love you.” He said to me in a loving tone. “Ditto.” I replied in the same manor.
